New Lead Regulations in Effect

Prior to 1978, Massachusetts used lead based paint in homes. Lead can be very harmful to young children and can cause serious health issues if not taken care of properly.

Recently, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program has amended its Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Regulation effective December 1, 2017.

These new regulations have changed the number and type of surfaces that must be de-leaded and lowered the threshold of lead found in the blood a more stringent amount. These changes should simultaneously help to make consumers feel more secure and landlords more comfortable embarking on the process of renovating their property.
